GP Obstetrician vacancy located in a busy rural clinic MM4

Corangamite Clinic offers a General Practitioner Obstetrician (GPO) shared care model in conjunction with Colac Area Health, the successful applicant would consult from the clinic and be regularly rostered to provide Obstetric services at the hospital. This service is shared by a team of GPOs working on a mutually agreed roster.

About Corangamite Clinic- Colac

Corangamite Clinic, is a private billing practice located in the Colac Otway Shire with a population of 21,000 people, 13,000 of those residing in Colac. We work closely with Colac Area Health to help keep general and procedural medical services alive in regional Victoria. Colac is classified as an MM4 eligible location and all procedural Gp’s are eligible for procedural PIPs.

The successful applicant would be joining a close-knit group that involves senior GP Obstetricians, local midwives and community MCHN that care for women birthing in Colac during their antenatal, perinatal and postnatal presentations.

GP Obstetricians are supported by local surgeon’s, Anaethetists and visiting O&G specialists, that also regularly provide education sessions.

About Colac Area Health- Colac

Established in the late 19^th century Colac Area Health has been a long standing medical institution, the Only Hospital in the Shire that provides birthing facilities for the community. The hospital has 25 active beds providing acute medical, surgical and obstetrics services.

Colac Area Health has a Level 3 birthing capability, and delivers approximately 130 babies per year, including elective and emergency caesarean sections.

The Urgent Care Centre at Colac Area Health supports approximately 10,000 presentations per year, Urgent Care is supported by our local GPs, as well as HMOs and Registrars.

Essential criteria

DRANZCOG

AHPRA General Registration or FRACGP/FACRRM

Previous general practice experience

Previous Emergency Department (ED) experience- desirable

Attributes required:

• Excellent Customer service skills
• Strong communication skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Multitasking skills
• Medical Administration or Reception experience preferred but not essential.

Corangamite Clinic is a well-established and highly regarded medical clinic based in Colac offering complete medical care to the community. Front of House roles involve:

• Meeting and greeting patients
• Answering incoming calls and assisting patients with enquiries
• Handling email enquiries
• Managing and scheduling appointment bookings
• Responsible for all day-to-day reception duties, scanning, billing, and patient invoicing
• You will work cooperatively with other practice staff, participate in meetings, and training as required.
